I met Joye at Hinesville Middle School in 1985, and then had the pleasure of working with her again at Lyman Hall a few years later. Her bubbling personality would brighten anyone's day. I still have a plant that she gave me over 20 years ago. Whenever we would bump into each other, usually in the grocery store, we would talk about this plant. It's the only one I have ever had that didn't die within a couple of weeks! I told her that it was because she gave it to me with special meaning. The last time I saw Joye was in the grocery store. She was shopping for baby food for her grandchild. She was checking out all the ingredients and additives listed on each jar! She was just as perky and bubbly as she always had been. Mark, Meredith, & Amanda, Monday when my mom called to tell me of your moms passing I personally felt such a great sense of loss. I wanted the three of you to know what an impact your mom has had of my life. Mrs. Joye had a gift for inspiring you to be a better mother ,or a better friend, or just a better person in general. It did not matter if she knew you for 5 minutes or for 5 years. Her perseverance over health issues always amazed me. She lit up like a light bulb when she stepped foot in that school. Mrs. Johnson was an amazing woman. I joined the 'Carver Family' two years ago. In my interview she made a comment about how Carver watches out for their own. I met Joye at Hinesville Middle School in 1985, and then had the pleasure of working with her again at Lyman Hall a few years later. Her bubbling personality would brighten anyone's day. I still have a plant that she gave me over 20 years ago. Whenever we would bump into each other, usually in the grocery store, we would talk about this plant. It's the only one I have ever had that didn't die within a couple of weeks! I told her that it was because she gave it to me with special meaning. The last time I saw Joye was in the grocery store. She was shopping for baby food for her grandchild. She was checking out all the ingredients and additives listed on each jar! She was just as perky and bubbly as she always had been. Mark, Meredith, & Amanda, Monday when my mom called to tell me of your moms passing I personally felt such a great sense of loss. It did not matter if she knew you for 5 minutes or for 5 years. Her perseverance over health issues always amazed me. Mrs. Johnson was an amazing woman. I joined the 'Carver Family' two years ago. In my interview she made a comment about how Carver watches out for their own. During my time at Carver my Grandfather passed tragically and my Mother was hospitalized not knowing if she would make it out. She was a rock for me during both events.
